China hasthe largest aging population with the fastest growth rate in the world. As aging escalates, the impact of the imbalance of population structurehas also gradually emerged. With the adoption of the second child policy, the family structure "421" will slowly transform into the population structure “422”,which brings more pressure on bringing up a child in a one-child family. As worrying as the population imbalance is the undiversified services provided by elderly care centers – in both content and form.Majority of elderly care centers in China provide only accommodations and daily nursing services. However, there is a shortage of supply in terms of medical services for those elder people in need, such as rehabilitation medical treatment, medication consultancy, and emergency response. The service diversities and quality for medical services require great improvement. The quality of medical services, however, happens to be mostly cared and worried thing by the elderly and their children.Meanwhile, the gap between short supply and great demand creates an opportunity and a challenge for China'spension industry. Therefore,in the next few decades, how China's elderly care centers provide elderly care services and what kinds of elderly careservices they will provide are worth discussing.Firstly, this paper adopts the P.E.S.Tmodeland Porter'sFive Forces model to analyze the internal and external business environment of China's pension industry.Secondly, based on the theory of “business model canvas” and the case of Z Group, this paper explores the Z Group's business model of “medical support and nursing in one”.Finally,it puts forward suggestions for the problems encountered by the Z Group's business model and other related issues.Facing a series of problems and dilemmas such as the mismatch between elderly people's needsafter retirement and pension institutions' service, the poor satisfaction towards institutional pensions from Chinese elder people, and the thin profits of the pension enterprises in China, this paper carries out an analysis on the internal and external environment of the elderly care enterprises in China under the common sense of business model of the elderly care enterprises and provides references for the future exploration and research of the “medical support andnursing in one” business model in China.
