Under the background of China's economy entering a "new era",the proportion of tourism economy to GDP is increasing year by year, and its "pro-poor characteristics" also play an important role in solving the main contradictions "unbalanced and inadequate".Therefore, under the comprehensive background of increasing economic downward pressure and poverty alleviation work, how to better develop the tourism economy has naturally become a key in the work of governments. However, the reality of China's tourism industry development is that he development of the tourism industry has long been constrained by the perfection of government public services. With the exogenous impact of China's "TV politics",this paper first studies how media supervision has affected the development of tourism industry by using the panel date of 283 cities in China from 2002-2015 and difference-in-differences method. This paper finds that "TV politics" has significantly promoted the development of the local tourism industry. With the normalization of "TV politics" and the increase of the single show time, this effect will become more apparent.Further mechanism studies show that this promotion is mainly achieved by improving the supply level of local government public services. In addition, the tourism promotion effect of “TV politics” will show obvious heterogeneity,it will be more obvious with the increase of regional administrative efficiency, internet penetration, and traffic accessibility. The above conclusion is established after a number of robustness tests. This means that forms of media supervision such as “TV politics” not only have a good role in government governance, but also can help realize industrial economic development and effectively solve the main contradiction of “unbalanced and inadequate” under the “new era”.The research in this paper not only provides a policy basis for promoting the development of tourism industry, but also plays a guiding role for local governments to further improve the “governance structure”.
