Research On Xi Jinping’s Concept On Ideals And Convictions

Ideals and convictions are the spiritual pillars and intellectual impetus of a person and the spirit banner of unity and struggle of a nation,ethnic group and political party.The issue of ideals and convictions is not only the frontier issue of Marxist philosophy,but also a major practical issue for socialism of Chinese characteristics after entry into the new era.Under the present time trend of economic globalization,with the deepening of reform and opening up and the invasion and interruption by western ideology,China’s national condition,party condition,and social environment have undergone significant changes and ideals and convictions have been weakened to a certain extent.However,the building of socialist undertakings with Chinese characteristics and the realization of the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation both need the support of scientific and lofty ideals and convictions.In face of the current complicated domestic and overseas situation and the current status of social ideals and convictions,Xi Jinping’s concept on ideals and convictions has risen at the proper time.Since the 18^th National Congress,General Secretary Xi Jinping has mentioned for many times ideals and convictions,and related issues in a series of important speeches,clarified the importance of ideals and convictions,and proposed such great statements as“Our revolutionary ideals soar beyond the sky”and“Ideals and convictions are the calcium of communists’mind”.According to the Report of the 19^th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,our top priority in building the Party through theory is to stay true to our ideals and convictions,which is of profound historical significance and strong practical pertinence.Aside from the introduction and conclusion,the body of the thesis consists of four parts:Part One discusses relevant theories on ideals and convictions.Ideals refer to the highly conscious self-awareness that transcends reality to realize noble value targets and the lofty target value system that people strive for.Convictions refer to concepts believed to be correct and firm and the integration of cognition,emotion,and will.Ideals and convictions is a compound word with Chinese characteristics and the motive for people’s activities;a kind of special human spirit and the core of people’s spiritual world;the highest level of value goals pursued by human beings and the sublimation and concentrated reflection of worldview,outlook on life,and values.The definition of the connotations,features,and roles of ideals and convictions provides a solid foundation for an in-depth study of Xi Jinping’s concept on ideals and convictions later.Part Two introduces the time background and theoretical basis for the formation of Xi Jinping’s concept on ideals and convictions.From three perspectives of international environment,domestic environment,and in-party environment,the thesis objectively analyzes the current status of ideals and convictions in the present society and China’s present social reality that urgently needs firm ideals and convictions,and thereby discloses the time background for the formation of Xi Jinping’s concept on ideals and convictions.Meanwhile,this concept also has profound theoretical basis.Xi Jinping’s concept on ideals and convictions not only inherits and develops relevant theories on ideals and convictions by Marx,Engels,Lenin,Mao Zedong,and the CPC central committee leading collective since reform and opening up,but also critically develops the thought on ideals and convictions in traditional Chinese culture.Part Three introduces the major content and basic characteristics of Xi Jinping’s concept on ideals and convictions.Firstly,The thesis mainly divides Xi Jinping’s concept on ideals and convictions into five aspects:Noble ideal,shared ideal and Chinese Dream:connotations of ideals and convictions;ideals and convictions are the calcium of mind:the importance of ideals and convictions;party members and cadres and youth:major objects for the education on ideals and convictions;master the best skills and consolidate“full confidence in the path,theory,system,and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics”:means to consolidate ideals and beliefs;“whether we can adhere to the fundamental principle of wholeheartedly serving people,whether we can endure hardship first and enjoy later,whether we can work diligently and honestly fulfill our duties,and whether we can fight,strive and devote all our energy or even life to ideals regardless of our own safety”and“whether we have offered specific deployment,whether we have conducted special surveys,whether we have reminded others through talks,whether we have conducted rectification and supervision,whether we have offered suggestions on accountability,and whether we have done duty-fulfillment reports”:the touchstone to test ideals and convictions.Then,the thesis further summarizes the basic characteristics of Xi Jinping’s concept on ideals and convictions:scientific,people-oriented,realistic and features of the time.Part Four introduces the theoretical and practical significance of Xi Jinping’s concept on ideals and convictions.Its theoretical significance is mainly two-fold:inherit and develop Marxism thought on ideals and convictions;enrich and develop the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics.Its practical significance is mainly four-fold:provide spiritual guidance to consolidating Marxism faith;provide spiritual support to maintaining the Party’s advanced nature and purity;provide theoretical guidance to making education on ideals and convictions more targeted and practical;point out a clear direction for the spiritual world of contemporary Chinese.Xi Jinping’s concept on ideals and convictions is a scientific thought fully mastering the domestic and overseas situation,a great thought constantly enriched and developed in the practices of building socialism with Chinese characteristics,and is the Chinese Marxism thought on ideals and convictions in the 21^st century with rich content and distinctive features.
