The idea of contract has a long history,but until the modem social contract is truly regarded as a theory of the origin and political system of the state.Locke and Rousseau’s idea of social contract is based on the criticism and of development predecessors’contract theory,combined with the political proposition of the background.In this paper,the use of literature analysis,comparative research and so on,first expounded the background and theoretical origin of Locke and Rousseau’s social contract;And then elaborated Locke and Rousseau social contract ideas,from the logical starting point of the social contract-the state of nature began to discuss the formation of social contracts,and social contract to achieve what kind of results three processes gradually;And then from the content to start a comparative analysis of the two social contract ideas,unity is reflected in the natural state of the plight of the way out is the political society,the source of government power is the social contract in two aspects;Differences are reflected in the assumptions of the natural state,the scope of the transfer of rights,the design of the political system,the results of the free discussion;Finally,with the rise of modem utilitarianism,there has been a criticism of Locke and Rousseau’s social contract,on the basis of analytical criticis,reflect on the social contract of the two ideas.
