Marijuana Use:Legal Or Illegal?

Although U.S.federal government has outlawed the use of marijuana,an increasing number of states have passed laws allowing use of marijuana for either medical or both medical and recreational purposes.The debate concerning marijuana legalization is increasingly becoming heated.This paper intends to discuss the issue and possible future of marijuana legalization from multiple aspects,for example,historical?political and economic perspectives.The finding is that the issue of marijuana legalization is not merely a scientific matter.In fact,it's quite complicated involving different interest groups.Furthermore,the deadlock between federal and state governments is partly attributed to the American political system——federalism.With regards to the possible future of marijuana legalization effort,having taken many factors into consideration including lessons learnt from Prohibition in American history,this thesis concludes that although marijuana legalization proponents are gaining momentum,its's still too early before a mature marijuana policy can be formulated.More reliable studies should be carried out.
