The Preaching Of The Sheng Yu And The Spread Of Nongovernmental Legal Knowledge During The Qing Dynasty

The preaching of the sheng yu is a means by which the rulers of the Qing dynasty educated the people to consolidate and strengthen their rule.The texts of the sheng yu preached in the Qing dynasty mainly include “six words of the sheng yu”,“sixteen words of the sheng yu” and “the extensive instruction of the sheng yu”.These texts involve some legal knowledge.In the Qing dynasty,in order to meet the needs of the preaching of the sheng yu,there have been many works in conjunction with the Laws and Regulations of the Qing dynasty.These works contain a large amount of legal knowledge and are important texts for preaching the sheng yu in the Qing dynasty.The preaching of the sheng yu in the civil society during the Qing dynasty was mainly carried out through the activities of the township.The institutionalization and regularization of the township activities in the Qing dynasty made the preaching of the sheng yu routinization.The preaching of the sheng yu thus became an important way to spread the knowledge of folk law in the Qing dynasty.The article is divided into three parts to discuss: the first part,from “six words of the sheng yu”,“sixteen words of the sheng yu” to “the extensive instruction of the sheng yu” describes the origin and development of the preaching of the sheng yu;the second part mainly analyzes the texts of the Qing dynasty and the legal knowledge contained in the writings of the Qing dynasty;the third part mainly discusses the role of the preaching of the Qing dynasty in promoting the acceptance of the people and learning legal knowledge.
