Since the beginning of the 21 st century, with the continuous improvement of the living standards of our residents and the prolongation of the average life expectancy, aging of population has gradually become an inevitable outcome of social development.Aging of population is a relative concept that describes the process of rising relative proportions of the elderly population.According to the statistics of the fifth census of our country,in 2010,the elderly over the age of 60 accounted for 10.2% of the total population in China in 2010,reaching 130 million people. The number of elderly people over the age of 65 exceeded 80 million, accounting for about the total population 6.96%.Compared with the 1953 census data, the population aged over 65 years has increased about 2.36 times, with an average annual growth rate of 2.6%,which is much higher than the national average population growth rate over the same period. In particular,in the past decade, the elderly population in China has been accelerating at a rate that exceeds the national average growth rate of 2 times the population, which indicates that China has entered an accelerated period of population aging.Increased aging of the population has pushed the health of the elderly population to become the focus of public opinion and the livelihood hot spot of the party and the government. In 2016,the Outline of "Healthy China 2030" issued by the State Council of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council specifically proposed to promote healthy aging as an important part of the concrete practice of "Healthy China." Building more targeted medical and health service system to ensure that the elderly can enjoy a comprehensive medical service at home or community.Strengthen the health guidance and comprehensive interventions in common diseases and chronic diseases for the elderly, and strengthen the health management of the elderly. On October 18,2017,Comrade Xi Jintao pointed out in his report at the 19 th National Congress that implementing the strategy for a healthy China, actively responding to the aging of the population, building a social environment and policy system featuring respect for the elderly, filial piety and old-age support, promoting the combination of medical treatment and employment, and accelerating the cause of aging and industrial development. At the same time, the acceleration of population aging has also led more scholars to focus their attention on promoting the health of the elderly. The health problems of the elderly population also include the four aspects of physical health, mental health, moral health and social adaptability.Obviously, physical health and mental health are the key points. The improvement of living standards and the improvement of health service system can all contribute to the physical health of the elderly population. In contrast, the mental health of the elderly population is not only related to the material and living conditions of the elderly population, but also closely linked with the individual characteristics and social environment of the elderly population. Therefore, there is still a lack of a unified understanding on how to promote the mental health of the elderly population standard.Through analyzing the research results of the mental health of the elderly,it is not difficult to find that some studies fail to select the representative data. Some studies only analyze from the perspective of single dimension or single variable, which leads to some extent, some of the research results are contradictory to each other. Some scholars choose to focus their attention on the physical health of the elderly on the health of the elderly population. Some scholars focus more on the differences in mental health of the elderly population in different regions, different periods and different demographic characteristics.Because different scholars choose different subjects, the results show that the mental health status of urban elderly population in some areas is superior to the elderly population in rural areas mental health, while in some areas the result is the opposite. Some scholars regard the impact factors of mental health of the elderly population as the main research goal.Prior to 2010,research on influencing factors mainly focused on self-rated quality of life, social support, family support, educational level and subjective well-being.However,after 2010,marital status, living style of the elderly population and living environment gradually became most scholars study the focus. Therefore,a comparative analysis of the current status of mental health of the elderly from multiple perspectives and the analysis of the influencing factors of the mental health of the elderly at multiple levels are of great practical significance for studying the changing trend of the mental health of the elderly population and promoting healthy aging. In this paper, population, resources and environmental economics, development economics, demography and econometrics and other related disciplines theory, learn from the existing research results, using the "Chinese elderly health longevity impact factor survey"(CLHLS)in 2005 Based on the 2014 follow-up survey data, the paper analyzes the differences and differences in mental health of the elderly in China.Empirical analysis methods such as binary logit model and saliency analysis are applied to the factors that may affect the mental health of the elderly population in China a more comprehensive analysis. The main research contents include:(1)Based on the follow-up survey data of CLHLS in 2005,2008,2011 and 2014 in four years, the paper mainly analyzes the distribution characteristics of elderly population in our country,Features,External Support Features.(2)Based on the CLHLS follow-up survey data in 2005,2008,2011 and 2014,we analyzed the lifestyle habits, economic fundamentals,self-rated life quality characteristics, living characteristics, location characteristics and economic characteristics of the elderly population as independent variables, the elderly population loneliness as a dependent variable, the binary Logit model was used to examine the factors affecting the mental health of the elderly from different dimensions. The results show that the elderly population in the eastern part of the country is more likely to be lonely than the elderly in the western region, and the urban elderly population is weaker than those in the rural elderly population. The likelihood of loneliness among the elderly population with spouses is significantly lower than that of the elderly population without spouse;Self-assessment of higher quality of life, better habits of the elderly population better
