During the Cold War,the study of strategic stability focused on the nuclear confrontation between the two major military forces of the United States and the Soviet Union. The end of the Cold War led to the collapse of the bipolar structure, which changed the original research scope of the theory of strategic stability. In the new historical period, the factors that can influence the strategic stability in the field of military security are no longer confined to the development of strategic nuclear weapons in each country.Factors such as economic development, institutional participation, and development of global issues are becoming new intervention variables affecting strategic stability. It is difficult for the original theoretical research method to adapt to the current strategic stability study. Therefore,in view of the characteristics of the post-Cold War era,it is particularly important to review the issue of strategic stability. The theory of strategic stability came from the relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union in the context of the Cold War.After the end of the Cold War,the United States became the only superpower, and the world's pattern has undergone new changes.Especially since the beginning of the 21 st century,China has risen and gained world attention and attention.Sino-U.S.relations have also become the most important and complex bilateral relations in the world today, and the guiding role of strategic stability theory between China and the United States has become Highlighted.Hu Yumi, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Arms Control and Disarmament Association, said that "strategic stability is a systematic, multidimensional, interdisciplinary topic." Maintaining strategic stability involves various aspects such as security strategy, geopolitics, comparison of military strength, science and technology, and economic development level. In order to adapt to the theme of peaceful development in the new era,we must first abandon the Cold War mentality of highlighting military deterrence, intensifying military alliances, competing for military superiority, and implementing“extended deterrence,” stressing that peaceful coexistence, interdependence, mutual benefit, and good-neighborliness should promote cooperation and promote security. The idea, especially in the crisis management, should be replaced by dialogue instead of confrontation, which will prompt the international situation to develop in a predictable, controllable and constructive direction. In the current world situation,China plays a constructive and stable role. The important reason is that China follows the development of the times, insists on advocating the concept of strategic stability characterized by equality, mutual benefit, and common development. It does not participate in the arms race, does not encourage military confrontation, and does not join the military alliance. All this is the strategy for Sino-U.S.relations.Stability provides a positive effect. The basic structure of this paper is to develop the theory of strategic stability, expand the theory of strategic stability in other fields, and discuss the current status of Sino-U.S.relations in the economic, institutional, and military fields from the perspective of strategic stability. The specific content is to summarize and analyze the premise of maintaining strategic stability between China and the United States, elaborate on the performance of China-US strategic stability and the challenges to be dealt with, and evaluate China-US strategic stability.
