Nozick's State Theory:A Thin Contractarianism

State Theory is an important theoretical topic in political philosophy.Anarchy,State,and Utopia is the masterpiece of Nozick in the exploration of the theory of the state.This paper first examines Nozick's preparations for his state theory,Anarchism is the object of refutation,and Locke's state of nature theory is used as the background.This paper proposes that Nozick's state theory is a possible judgment of thin contractarianism.Second,the formulation of Nozick's state theory traces the origin of the country with an explanation of the invisible hand.People in the natural state form protective societies in order to protect their own rights and interests.Due to the advantage of labor division,professional protective society emerged.Then,with the role of invisible hands,a dominant protection society has developed in the same region.Dominant protection society has gained practical monopoly power to become ultra-mininal countries.After the implementation of the compensation policy it become the minimum state.Through analysis and demonstration of contractual elements in Nozick's theory,This paper proposes that Nozick's state theory is a kind of "thin contractarianism".Finally,the paper discusses the elements of contractarianism that appear in Nozick's theory.The process of Nochick going through a natural state,to a protective society,and to a dominant protective society is to achieve the goal of "universal agreement." From the state of nature,to the minimal state with the "universally agreed",Nozick has unfolded all the links between them.The final step in Nozick's theory,from ultra-minimal state to minimal state,depends on compensation.The reasonable and lawful acceptance of compensation is based on the consent of the independent.The prior agreement of most of the principals together with the delayed consent of a small number of independent persons together constituted general agreement,The individual and the community enter into a contract to form a minimal state.This is an important reason why this article explains Nozick's state theory from the perspective of thin contractarianism.This paper proposes that Nozick's state theory contains important elements of contractarianism.Therefore,this paper claims that his state theory is "thin contractarianism.".The perspective of this paper is a possible argumentation perspective,namely that there is such a possibility that Nozick's national theory can be regarded as a kind of thin contractarianism.
