An Analysis On The Health Status Of The Elderly In Kunming

At present,population ageing has become a severe challenge in China and even the whole world.The elderly due to the increasing of the age and gradually withdraw from the labor market,economic income has decreases,the body and cognitive ability become weak gradually,even loss self-care ability.How to protect the old people’s health,make them spend the old age safely and maintain good health has become a crucial issue.In China,the health status of the elderly population in cities,towns and villages showed a significant difference because of the dual social structure between urban and rural areas.This paper will study the main difference between urban and rural areas according to the sixth census data on the health status of the elderly population in Kunming,and compared with the national data.This paper will also analysis of causes of the health status differences between urban and rural areas,and combined with the"healthy aging" concept which promoted by the international community to make the appropriate review and thinking of urban and rural elderly people’s healthy development.The conclusions are as follows:1.In terms of gender,the health status of male elderly population is better than that of women in cities,towns and villages.The proportion of women in rural areas who can not take care of themselves is the highest,which should be paid more attention to.2.In terms of age,the health status of the elderly population gradually becomes poor with increasing age,and the elderly than younger elderly show greater health disadvantage.The health status of the elderly in rural areas should be most concerned about.3.In terms of marital status,Kunming’s city healthy elderly population have accidentally rate is higher than town and rural.The rural unhealthy widowed old mouth is far higher than the proportion of the city and town,and rural widowed elderly health condition is the worst.4.In terms of the main source of life,most of the elderly health in whose main sources of livelihood is retirement pension and labor income.Health but not capable of taking care and unable to take care of in rural more than cities and towns in other members of the family support is the main source of life of the elderly population.Women are more dependent on family members than men.In order to promote the healthy aging of the elderly and narrow the gap between the health status of the elderly in urban and rural areas,we should coordinate urban and rural development and promote the equalization of basic public services;pay attention to the health of the elderly women;play the role of marriage and family in the health protection;improve the elderly’s self health awareness,encourage the development of social activities of the elderly.
