Since the last of 20th century, when people stepped into The Era of Information,multi-modality discourse analysis?MDA?has deprived and attracted the attention of scholars from various fields.Different from traditional discourse analysis,MDA focuses on not only text, but also the non-language factors like image, sound, color, action and so on.The cause for such differences is that the information conveyed has gone well beyond the restriction of text and realized more diverse and efficient with the assistance of elements like picture, video.Legal education in China has had a history of about forty years and will complete its seventh five-year program in 2020,to which it has newer and stricter requirements on the legal education target and approach, which is to realize New-media legal education on the public.Nevertheless, compared with the legal education on the teens, government officials and the masses who can provide sufficient resources for Chinese legal linguistics, the legal education on high-risk group children has hardly been the research target, thus necessitating its research and solution for the accomplishment of new-media public legal education?Denvir,2016?.In accordance to social semiotics proposed by Kress&van Leeuwen?1996;2001?based on Halliday's language meta-function theory, images can somehow be regarded as social semiotics, and each image contains specific meanings like representation, interaction and composition meaning. With the combination of Halliday's systemic functional linguistics and Kress&van Leeuwen's social semiotics, multimodal discourse,in essence,is an analysis on the function of text and non-text resources in multimodal discourse and aims to search out their relationships to realize more ideal interaction. This thesis extracts Legal Report summer column as sample and resorts to Halliday's systemic functional grammar,Kress&van Leeuwen's social semiotics and visual grammar theory as theoretical framework to analyze the function and relationship of each mode of language and non-language discourse in legal education meaning construction. This thesis is firstly to find out what are the meanings of lines and images and how they are presented, and whether the attitudinal resources contained in different roles'conversation have some specific features;then is to analyze the result of the combination of language and non-language discourse and what relationship they have built in legal education meaning construction;last is to conclude a specific legal education program pattern for children to realize the research purpose of this thesis.Through the analysis of language and non-language resources in the sampled videos,it is found that the employment of attitudinal resources and behavioral process will prompt the society to realize the urgency of children PLE and help the children to understand the concept and content of law in a simple and straight way.On the other hand,in the consideration of children's characteristics—low understanding and self-control ability, the adopt of non-language resource will evoke their interest and enhance their legal consciousness. In the PLE meaning construction, the text preserved in the sample videos works to construct a basic framework and the non-text resources in it like image, sound, action will enforce the express of legal meaning,in other words, the latter strengthen the former. It is hoped that the findings of this study can contribute to the construction of a new-media legal education program pattern for children to improve their legal knowledge and consciousness and help fill in the blank in legal education target, and accomplish new-media public legal education.
