Traditional style district is an important part of Chinese traditional cultural resources,and also carries the memory of Chinese traditional culture and agricultural civilization.But in recent years,it has gradually lost its edge and declined in the wave of urban construction.To protect the traditional areas and inherit the excellent history and culture has become an urgent problem.In the opinions on strengthening the planning and implementation of historical and cultural protection and inheritance issued by the general office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government in 2019,it is stated that "focusing on the two basic aspects of" Rural Revitalization "and" urban upgrading ",Chongqing aims to build a three in one national historical and cultural city of" landscape,culture and city "in an all-round way,inheriting and carrying forward the essence of the excellent traditional culture of Chongqing" We should pay more attention to the protection and inheritance of history and culture."Folk custom symbol" is an important research field of folklore.Guided by the relevant theory of "folk custom symbol",this paper analyzes the folk custom symbol in the traditional style area of Mudong in Banan District of Chongqing,and explores the significance and application value of folk custom symbol in shaping the local characteristic landscape.In the specific research,firstly,it combs the general situation of Banan District and Mudong Town,focuses on the construction,economic and traffic changes of Mudong Town,and grasps the background of Mudong town as a traditional area of Chongqing;then it classifies the external material folk symbols and internal non-material folk symbols of the traditional area,including the street pattern andarchitecture of Mudong On this basis,the paper studies the significance and value of folk symbols in shaping the characteristic landscape of wooden caves,and tries to explore the development path of combining folk symbols with the development and utilization of traditional style areas on the basis of protecting traditional culture.Based on the research and analysis of the folk symbols in the Traditional style district of Mudong,this paper further explores how to apply the folk symbols to the development path of Urban Landscape Shaping on the basis of protecting the traditional landscape,so as to create a form that can not only reflect the local traditional cultural connotation,but also adapt to the contemporary aesthetic and tourism needs,not only for the protection of the Traditional style district of Mudong The development provides a new idea and a research case for other similar areas.
