A Study On The Interculturality Of Lao She's Fiction

As one of the modern writers which are most closely connected with the world,Lao She always paying attention to the complexity of cultural context as well as the cultural conflicts and integration of different countries and nationalities.However,previous studies have paid little attention to the interculturality in Lao She's fiction.Lao She's creation thinking transcends the single view of egocentrism in his fiction such as Mr.Ma and Son.He recognized and respected cultural differences,and on the basis of which he explored the possibility and necessity of intercultural dialogue.Based on this,the research content of this paper is the interculturality of Lao She's fiction which is divided into four parts:Firstly,the paper systematically introduces the theoretical background and connotation of interculturality,that is,interculturality is a concrete expression of the intersubjectivity in the field of culture,and it is also the intermediate position of human beings in the face of multicultural encounters;and emphasizes two important theories:fusion of horizons and dialogue.Among them,fusion of horizons refers to the cultural subject views the culture of the other from an inclusive perspective,while dialogue refers to negotiation and exchange based on mutual equality and respect for differences.On this basis the paper discusses the reasons for the interculturality in Lao She's fiction,including the cultural memories of Man-Han fusion,the fusion of the sights of the collision between China and the West,and the actual needs of save-demand.Secondly,the paper analyzes how Lao She consciously examines nation and the world in his fiction from the standpoint of interculturality such as Mr.Ma and Son,that is,how modern China has transformed from ?I? to ?We?,and how the British colonial consciousness and racial discrimination led to the demise of human nature.At the same time,it analyzes the decline of human nature and morality in his fiction,that is,the colonial consciousness and racial discrimination of the British lead to annihilation of human nature.Thirdly,the paper tries to analyze the humorous illustration of the cosmopolitan passion and different internal ethnical problems in his fiction,and the creation intention of his attempt to break the gap between heterogeneous cultures to achieve a completeness of human harmony,further illustrate that Lao She's constant search for intercultural dialogue is an important factor of his examination of China and the world,humanity and morality.Finally,the paper explores the cosmopolitan value of the interculturality of Lao She's fiction.On the one hand,it shows Lao She's broad view of world literature,that is,while studying and mimicking foreign literature,he has the speculative thoughts of persisting the national uniquity;on the other hand,it is to reflect the compatibility and rebalancing of the relationship between the ancient and the modern,which provides a reasonable idea for the conflict and integration between the world and the localization model of modernity,and has important enlightening significance of the accurate self-positioning realization of national culture under the background of globalization.In conclusion,this paper takes Mr.Ma and Son as the research center and expands to other fiction from the perspective of world literature and cross-culture,examines the interculturality in Lao She's fiction,reveals how Lao She,as a cosmopolitan writer,examines china's relationship with the world,and explores his thinking on national issues and human mental state,and then explores the true cultural connotation in his fiction.
