The term ?aleatory? was first seen in the 1950 s.As defined in The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians,the term applied to “music whose composition and/or performance is,to a greater or lesser extent,undetermined by the composer”.Its appearance had a strong influence on music composition,however,it received both positive and negative reviews.Earlier researches mainly focused on two perspectives: the techniques of the composition and the aesthetic value of aleatory music.In this article,we intend to examine a leatory music from the perspective of genres and discuss its influence on the form,structure,and genre principles of the concerto.This article contains three chapters:The first chapter examines the nature,presentation,and overall effect of aleatory music.The chapter is a direct definition and analysis of aleatory music,by discussing its historical background and its specific performances in terms of pitch,timing,rhythm,genre,and spatiality,so as to lay the theoretical foundation for the discus sion of the fol owing chapters.The second chapter discusses the influence of aleatory music.It discusses how the concertos of different composers,from Europe,the United States.C hina,etc.,in different cultural backgrounds,was influenced by aleatory music,and the differences between the concertos and the cause of the differences.The third chapter analyzes the influences of aleatory music on the principle of the concerto.It discusses how the core genre principles of the concerto,which is the principles of impromptu elements and virtuosity,the principle of the collaboration methods and interactions,the principle of the comparison of texture construction and the sound,and the principle of the idea of sonata form,was influenced by aleatory music and its universal significance.
