China has developed rapidly since the reform and opening-up and overtook Japan to become the world's second largest economy in 2010.The relationship between China and the United States is also recognized as one of the most important in the 21st century.That means news concerning China and America has been a steady stream.This is a translation project report on the special report China and America,which was published on The Economist on 18th May,2019.The special report is composed of seven separate articles on the theme of China and America,respectively in politics,technology,science,military,trade and future.The special report enjoys a wide range to cover and a series of opinions to present.This translation report is composed of four parts based on preparation,procession and conclusion.In preparation,the first part is an introduction of background of The Economist,related research and outlines of translation report.The second part is an introduction on translation steps including analysis of original context.In procession,the third part is given some examples from original text to analyze difficult points and offer solutions during the process of translation,respectively in vocabularies,sentences and paragraphs.In conclusion,the last part is a summary of translation skills used in translation and makes a conclusion of the lessons and experience required from the translation project,as well as problems to be resolved.The report mainly use the case analysis method towards research difficulties and abide by three principles of faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance.Through the translation,one can learn the knowledge of news language with accurate expression of title and new words and pay more attention to the different political stand.
