The paper focuses on discussing the Peking opera performer of Shang Changrong's personal artistic style.As the son of Shang Xiaoyun,one of four famous Dans in Peking Opera,Shang Changrong is one of the first group of representative inheritors of national intangible cultural heritage(Beijing Opera),who has ever acquired “The Magnolia Award” and “Plum Blossom Prize”.His starring Caocao and Yangxiu was the first recipient of “Chinese Opera Academy Award”,which was called a landmark work.It integrated moving,saying and dancing of the shelf painted-face with the singing skills of copper painted-faced,which thereby builds a series of classic images in stage.The new historical plays Caocao and Yangxiu(1988),Prosperous Zhenguan Period(1998),Inspector and Prince(2002),which are called “Shang Changrong Trilogy”,have reflected the time spirit from different perspectives and degrees,enriched and expanded performance forms of traditional Beijing operas.It has not only deeply influenced the realm of art of Beijing opera,but also greatly improved the artistic and academic status of Shanghai Peking Opera Theatre.More than that,Shanghai Peking Opera Theatre advances with the times,applies new art resources and shoots 3D Beijing Opera movies,which also expands the Beijing Opera art to a newer and broader realm of art.This paper discusses the following questions:What are the causes and conditions that have contributed to Shang Changrong's artistic achievements and status?How did the social environmental changes that Shang Changrong experienced impact art career?What are the characteristics of the identity change of opera artists and the creation and performance of plays in the support of different cultural policies?Further discussion:With the technological development,diversified performing form,the carrier of Beijing Opera and the relation between artists and audiences changes accordingly.How does Beijing Opera art cope with these changes?The article consists of three chapters.The first chapter mainly combs and summarizes Shang Changrong's family background and the experience of art.The second chapter and third chapter describe and analyze Shang Changrong's singing art and life experience.Musically speaking,the paper analyzes Shang Changrong's characteristics of performing arts in the perspective of music voices,which thereby it observes and analyzes Shang Changrong's singing art.Later,the paper applies the theory and method of “individual research” to discuss Shang Changro'g's personal characteristics.Taking the time sequence as the clue,the first chapter focuses on Shang Changrong's family background,life experience and his experience of learning skill from master and perform onstage.The second chapter emphasizes on the “singing” in Beijing opera performance and concentrates on discussing following questions: What are the similarities and differences between the same play and same piece sung by different actors?What are the similarities and differences between the same script,the same lyrics,the same actors in different times and different medium? What are the elements influencing these similarities and differences? How does Shang Changrong express his individual characteristics in above aspects? In the third chapter,surrounding with “why Shang Changrong becomes Shang Changrong”,it discusses and analyzes the social background,family influence,artistic concept,etc,during which the paper probes into Shang Changrong's personal identity,social role and social identity relationship in different periods.
