Hirokazu Koreeda is one of the main representatives of the films of the Japanese neo-realist authors,whose style is based on realism,with a distinctive national character and oriental connotations.The film focuses on the survival and emotional state of the underlying characters,expressing their thoughts on society and the times,presenting a philosophical gesture of life that is soft and introverted,but still flexible.The thesis systematically analyzes the 14 films directed by Hirokazu Koreeda in terms of thematic expression,narrative characteristics and image style,and explores the perseverance and innovation in the artistic style of Hirokazu Koreeda.The paper is divided into five parts.In the introductory part,the research content and research ideas are clarified by organizing and summarizing the existing materials and documents,determining the value and significance of the artistic research of director Hirokazu Koreedaa.The first chapter is an analysis of the content and thematic expression,from the deep gaze of life anxiety,the deep reflection on the fissures of reality,and the healing reconstruction in emotional trauma,Hirokazu Koreeda's film explores the deep essence of the underlying life.The second chapter analyzes the narrative techniques of Hirokazu Koreeda's film,analyzing the rich tension construction of daily narrative in terms of the underlying characterization,daily narrative style,and time and space-temporal construction respectively.The third chapter focuses on the characteristics of Hirokazu Koreeda's films and analyzes the presentation of image styles with oriental connotations from three aspects: the still view of the camera,the aesthetic pursuit of documentary,and the living image symbols.The fourth chapter summarizes the value and aesthetic expression of Hirokazu Koreeda 's film.As the only director to win the Palme d'Or in the Heisei era,Yutaka's films are not only a compassionate expression of concern for one's own survival in the context of globalization,but also an excellent example of Japanese cinema's insistence on nationalistic expression in the context of global cultural integration.
