A Report On The Interpretation Of The New Silk Road Seminar

China?s New Silk Road Initiative arouses wide attention and discussion at home and abroad.The interpreter has chosen the seminar on New Silk Road for the simulated interpreting.Consecutive interpretation is a complicated cross-language and cross-cultural activity composed of receiving source language,comprehending information,switching code and expressing the source material in target language.The interpreter analyzes the interpretation process under the guidance of Gile?s Effort Model.According to Gile,interpreters have a limited capacity to deal with information.An excellent interpretation cannot be obtained unless the effort can be allocated into listening,remembering,expressing and other processes appropriately.Otherwise,omission and misinterpreting will take place.This report is divided into four chapters,including task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.By analyzing the interpretation,the interpreter summarizes the factors causing problems,such as strong accent,too many notes and inadequate linguistic knowledge and extra-linguistic knowledge.Under the guidance of Gile?s Effort Model,the interpreter puts forward three strategies: enhancing listening comprehension ability,improving note-taking skill and accumulating extra-linguistic knowledge to balance the effort and improve the quality of interpreting.Meanwhile,the interpreter hopes that this report can provide some reference to other learners so as to improve the quality of interpreting.
