Zhao Yannian's Black And White Woodcut Illustration Research

The initiation of the new woodcut print movement is not only the inevitable result of the development of The Times,but also the advance force of the development of world woodcut art.The new woodcut movement,represented by Lu Xun.Among many excellent printmakers,Zhao's works are unique and representative.This paper takes Zhao Yannian as the research subject.From a relatively new research perspective,this paper tries to comprehensively discuss Zhao's creative experience,creative background,personal artistic achievements and his influence on modern printmaking education.This paper adopts document analysis,field investigation,image analysis,etc.Combined with the social environment and sports background at that time,this paper makes a comprehensive analysis of Zhao Yannian's print creation style and artistic techniques.The first part of this paper mainly USES the longitudinal timeline as the node.This paper analyzes the social background and inevitable trend of the movement from traditional woodcut to new woodcut in China.And under what circumstances Zhao Yannian embarked on the road of print creation.With the passage of time and the influence of social environment,his creative road has experienced several turning points;The second part mainly discusses the changes of Zhao Yannian's creative style in different periods.It also discusses the opportunity and achievement of Zhao Yannian to draw woodcut illustrations for Lu Xun's novels.The third part discusses the artistic language and forms of expression of Zhao Yannian's woodcuts from the analysis of creation techniques.The fourth part focuses on summarizing the creative influence of Zhao Yannian,and discusses the profound influence of his works,creative spirit and creative techniques on the development of modern Chinese printmaking.
