Films of real-life subjects attach great importance to the realistic problems in society, hoping to represent the nature of society truly and objectively,as a result of which, this kind of genre of films carries a serious ideological attribute.Throughout the development of the film-television industry in recent years,a lot of film and television works featured with real-life subjects have been rapidly developing, and these works depict the living circumstances of the lower-class people and center on the hot spots of society.Besides, these movies have been shinning in the movie market of China. The films that center on the real-life subjects mainly pay attention to the living condition and spiritual life of lower-class people, and through the revelation of the destiny of the lower-class people, these movies hope to reflect the realistic problems in society and evoke people's close attention and reflections on these people. Therefore, the molding of characters for the lower-class people in the real-life movies plays a key role in the success of the movies.Lower-class people refer to the marginalized social individuals who are often neglected by the mainstream society.Due to some subjective or objective reasons, they cannot hold the current situation and change their destinies. Some common lower-class people are “migrant worker in cities”,“laid-off workers”,and “workers who work on special occupations” and so on.The character modeling for the lower-class people is a top priority in plays, which can be achieved by three aspects, that is,the conflict on the characters themselves, the relationship between the characters and the environment as well as the striking contrast among the characters. There are diverse methods to model the lower-class characters in the films of real-life subjects.First of all,the characteristic and the inner world of the character can be presented by details, and the relationship among characters, their identities as well as the environment that they are exposed to can also be revealed. All of these can serve as important methods for character modeling. In particular, object scenes and setting scenes can help to explain the real living situation of the characters as well as,their inner world.Secondly, individualized language can make the characters more real and offer a sense of substitution.Featured with local folk customs, dialects are helpful to introduce the background of the story in the movie.Thirdly, body movements can present the characters' inner world, which can make the film more grounded in the real living conditions of the lower-class characters.Fourthly, with regard to the molding and the performance style, the character molding in the movie and that in the real life share a common ultimate goal.As a mirror of real life, the films of real-life subjects aim to restore the truth of life, while a real and natural performance style also serves as a key factor in a successful character molding for the lower-class people.Besides the exploration of the character molding for the lower-class people in the real-life movies, this paper also carries an analysis on the molding of the lower-class characters in the play for graduation called“The Fighter of Daliang Mountain ”as well as make some reflections on its creation, hoping to provide some referential creation resources and theoretical reflections for the molding of the lower-class characters in the future real-life films.
