| Nowadays,translation activities,as a kind of cross-cultural communication activities,have been widely recognized by many scholars.As a kind of communicative activity,it must have some communicative purpose and achieve some communicative functions.Therefore,in the 1980 s,functional translation theory was proposed and founded by two German translation theorists,Vermeer and Rice.Skopos theory,based on functionalist translation theory,is one of the most important theories,which opens up a new way for translation theories.Due to the diversity of translation research methods and the translation objects,this paper studies the translation of dialogue between characters in literary works as a starting point.The character dialogue not only plays an important role in literary works,but also plays a crucial role in highlighting the character of characters and promoting the development of the story plot.In the character dialogue,there are various types of sentences patterns in the structure,as well as all kinds of words or phrases with epochal and regional characteristics.In terms of content,the content and purpose of the dialogue are also different due to the different identities and emotions of the speaker.Therefore,the research on the translation of character dialogue in literary works is very representative.As a classic work in Chinese literature,“Strange Tales of Liaozhai” has a variety of dialogue styles and rich contents,so it is more representative to choose it and its Kazakh translation.This paper selects the “Strange Tales of Liaozhai” compiled by Pu Songling of the Qing Dynasty and its Kazakh translation as the main source of the corpus.Based on the Skopos theory,this paper studies the translation of character dialogue,finds out the shortcomings and proposes the optimization of the translation of character dialogue from the perspective of Skopos theory.The study consists of three parts: introduction,main body and conclusion.In the introduction part,the research objects and research background,research significance and current situation,research methods and implications are briefly described.The main body is divided into five chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the character dialogue,Skopos Theory and the relationship between them,as well as the principles,methods and techniques used in translation.From the macro level to the story of character dialogue and the theme of the story,the second chapter aims to explore and analyze the writing purpose of the story and its reflection in the character dialogue.The third chapter discusses the reflection of translation purpose in phonetics,vocabulary,grammar and sentence pattern of character dialogue from the micro level,and analyzes the connection and application of translation purpose in these aspects.The fourth chapter studies the character dialogue from the theoretical level,classifies and analyzes it according to the three principles of teleology.In the fifth chapter,the author makes an analysis of the dialogue translation of the characters in the Kazakh version of “Strange Tales of Liaozhai”,summarizes the characteristics and shortcomings of the translation,and puts forward the corresponding optimization methods.In the conclusion part,the author summarizes the whole thesis,finds out the shortcomings of the translation of the research object,that is,the dialogue between characters,and puts forward some personal views and optimization methods from the perspective of Skopos theory.Based on the perspective of Skopos theory,this paper studies and analyzes on the translation of dialogue between characters in “Strange Tales of Liaozhai”.Different from other previous studies,which only analyze the theoretical level,this study discusses from the macro to micro level,so as to highlight the importance of Skopos Theory in the translation of character dialogue in literary works.In addition,the present study aims to provide references for both the translation of character dialogues in “Strange Tales of Liaozhai” and the translation of character dialogue in other literary works,and to offer new ideas to the future study of dialogue between characters. |
