| Outre-Mer:A Pilgrimage Beyond the Sea mainly describes what Henry Wadsworth Longfellow saw and heard during his pilgrimage to Europe for the purpose of learning modern linguistics,and recorded it and presented it to the readers in the form of prose to promote the understanding of the world's cultural treasures.This translation practice report takes the second to fifth chapters of the Outre-Mer: A Pilgrimage Beyond the Sea(France)as the translated text and is supported by Hans J.Vermeer's Skopos Theory.Based on the domestication translation strategy,the methods such as word order adjustment and sentence splitting are used in order to faithfully and smoothly convey the meaning of the original text to the reader and enhance its readability,and provide some reference and enlightenment for the prose translation.In the practice report,the author took the difficulties encountered as examples to analyze and summarize the corresponding translation methods from three aspects:sentence,discourse and literary style.In the aspect of sentence,word splitting,word order adjustment and sentence combination are adopted.As to the discourse,it adopts the method of disassembling and combining sentences.About the stylistic,corresponding method is adopted.This practice report is divided into five chapters,namely task description,translation theoretical basis,translation process description,translation difficulties and translation methods,and practice summary. |
