Information exchange across the world is gaining momentum in both intensity and speed.Academic papers,as a primary dissemination channel for state-of-the-art scientific discoveries, are of fairly high translation values and interests. To ensure quality translation of information and its effective communication between the original papers and end users of the translated articles, translators may find it helpful to begin their projects with established theoretical guidance and additional technological aids.Systemic functional linguistics(SFL)provides a fairly comprehensive theoretical framework for textual analysis, including interpersonal functions of texts, and thus is a useful tool for the analysis of linguistic features and patterns. This article aims to apply up-to-date theoretical findings of SFL to translation practices on academic papers,in an effort to improve the quality and efficiency of translation. And for the same purpose as above, translation of the selected article is done in Trados 2017.SFL proves to be a useful tool in defining overall translation strategies, while the application of computer techniques such as Trados enhances translation efficiency, particularly on terms and proper nouns. |
