This is a translation report based on the translation of the Share Charge from English to Chinese with a total of 16,832 words.Commissioned by Shanghai Lawtone Translation Company, this translation task was sent to the translator via the Internet and the translator was required to complete it within one week.As a legal document, the Share Charge features a large number of legal terms and concise and rigorous language,as well as a neat structure. The Share Charge shall be translated from English into Chinese, following several requirements:(1)The wording in the translated text shall be formal, accurate and concise.(2)The language should be brief and standard.(3)The style and structure of the translation should be highly consistent with the original text, that's to say,the translator should make few modifications and rectifications. This report consists of five parts. The first part is the introduction of the task, including the background, content and requirements of the task,as well as the significance of carrying out this research. The second part is the task process, which mainly introduces the whole process in doing the task, including pre-translation preparations(parallel texts and using auxiliary tools),the process of translation, and post-translation.The third part is the text analysis.Combining Reiss' s text typology theory, the author analyzes the translated work from three aspects: vocabulary, syntax and style. The fourth part is the case study. The author demonstrates the appropriate translation skills and strategies targeted at the above three aspects. The fifth part is the conclusion, which summarizes the translation skills and strategies adopted by the translator as well as her experience and thoughts. In view of the problems she met in the translation process, the author puts forward the following solutions after considering specific cases.Since the legal text contains a large number of solemn and legal words, and nominalization is prominent in it,the author believes that archaic words should be maintained, and that nouns should be converted into verbs and standard legal terms should be adopted. In view of the long and difficult sentences, passive voice sentences and conditional adverbial clauses, the author adopts the method of splitting long and difficult sentences, converting passive voice sentences into active voice sentences and adjusting the sentence order; In terms of the employment of lexical repetition, the structure of stylized discourse and fixed sentence patterns, the author employs the lexical repetition, maintains the original discourse structure, and uses the syntactic linearity of fixed sentence patterns. In general, the use of the above methods can ensure that,in a large sense, the legal text can be translated faithfully and accurately. The author hopes to provide some guidance and reference for the translation of such texts by summarizing the translation methods of this Share Charge.
