The Analysis Of Chronotope In Image Narrative

With the development of modern science and technology,"image" is gradually penetrating into all aspects of our lives,and has become one of the most popular research directions in many humanities.,Image narrative is attracting more and more attention along with the spatial shift of narrative in literature under this academic trendRegrettably,there are few innovative achievements in image narrative.On the one hand,the theoretical researchers in the field of art pay more attention to the external sociological connection of historical materials and cultural images;on the other hand,the image research in the field of literature pays more attention to the historical relationship between literature and images.The current image narrative research is actually transforming the image narrative problem into how the image,which subordinate to the space camp,transcends its essential characteristics to achieve the purpose of narrative,which be supposed to subordinate to the time camp.Intentionally or unintentionally,this opinion ignores the role of the spatial characteristics of the image in the narrative.There are still many gaps in the study of image narrative,which starts from the image itself,combines the spatial characteristics and development laws of the image.Bakhtin's chronotope theory is a powerful complement to this gap.Although chronotope theory was born in the field of literature,it creatively takes the inseparable relationship between time and space in literary works as the research object,abstracts and spatializes the time form in the novel,and explains the different narrative effects of different chronotopes in the novel from the cognitive level.The research methods proposed by Bakhtin's chronotope theory and the perspective of space-time issues in it have rich reference significance for the study of image narrative.By comparing the artistic chronotope in literature and images,and combining with some experience of reading pictures in art history,this paper tries to find out an image narrative mode based on the theory of chronotope from the inside of images.This paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter focuses on the temporality and spatiality of image narrative,and regards "how to read images" and "narrative function of images" as two sides of image narrative,trying to explore a narrative logic based on the spatial characteristics of images,which is unique to images.The second chapter is based on the theory of chronotope and its crossmedia characteristics,analyze the possibility of applying this theory,which was born in the field of literature,to help study image narrative.The last chapter starts from the analysis of specific works,discussing two types of chronotope in image narrative: style and metaphor,sums up their operation mechanism,and summarizes two major characteristics of chronotope in image narrative: symbolism and dialogism.
