| As China’s overall national strength is gradually growing and foreign exchange activities are increasing,interpreting activity,as a channel to accelerate bilateral or multilateral exchanges,plays an important role in propelling foreign exchange activities.Working Memory is an important part in simultaneous interpretation and can simultaneously store and process information during the process in a short period time.If interpreter performs multiple tasks simultaneously in simultaneous interpretation,the input and output of the language will interact with the Working Memory,which will affect the interpretation performance directly.Therefore,it is very necessary to conduct the study of Working Memory in simultaneous interpretation,and it will also have a positive research value for international communication.In this thesis,the author adopts the literature research and qualitive analysis and applies the three efforts from Effort Models(Listening and Analysis Effort,Short-term Memory Effort,Speech Production Effort)proposed by the famous interpretation scholar-Daniel Gill as the theoretical framework.Besides,the author combines with interpretation scripts of keynote speeches delivered by President Xi Jinping during the first and second “Belt and Road” International Cooperation Forum in 2017 and 2019 respectively to conduct the research,and analyzes the difficulties of Working Memory in Simultaneous Interpretation at first,like limited time and high requirement.Afterwards,the author combines the interpretation scripts and analyzes the interpretation strategies of improving the capacity and efficiency of Working Memory in simultaneous interpretation from perspective of three basic effort models,anticipation and contextual analysis under the perspective of Listening and Analysis Effort,prefabricated chunk,retelling and visualization under the perspective ofShort-term Memory Effort,improving the bilingual level and simplification under the perspective of Speech production.The research revels that the Effort Models has a great guidance value in the study of interpretation strategies of improving the Working Memory in simultaneous interpretation.It enables the interpreter to improve the Working Memory through the application of interpretation strategies,as well as the quality and efficiency of interpretation,which lays the foundation for author`s further study on Working Memory.At the same time,this thesis can also provide some experience and reference for researches related to Working Memory,Effort Models and simultaneous interpretation. |
