Research On Xunzi's Idea Of Music Govermence

During the warring states period,rites collapsed and music was bad.On the basis of Confucius' moral thought,Xunzi inherited his view of the cultivation of rites and music.At the same time,based on the political thought of Confucius and the realistic political demand of the warring states period,he boldly absorbed the thought of legalism,expanded and developed the Confucian li and optimism,and put forward the view of "yue zhi".Facing human nature,Xunzi pointed out that people have differences in age,wealth,wealth,nobility and inferiority,so there are differences in people's desires and conflicts among people.At the same time,under the influence of the social environment,the distribution of power and social material materials in the warring states period were far from satisfying all people's desires,which also magnified the contradictions among the people.To this end,Xunzi proposed to clear up the differences of people,totransform individual people into group people,so that people in the political level to achieve a balance of desire.In addition,the early Chinese overemphasis on the primacy of "propriety" further increased social tensions.At the same time,as a conscious activity,the practice of "li" often needs strong political power as a guarantee.This compulsion has only heightened political tensions.Therefore,Xunzi thought that the simple rule of etiquette is not the best way to govern the country.In the face of the above practical problems,Xunzi inherited and developed the early Confucian thought of "li yi jie,yue yi he",pointing out that "yue" can play a gentle role in the hearts of people and promote harmony between friends,so as to put forward the philosophy of "governing the country by joy".Starting from the relationship between music and heaven and between music and human nature,he analyzed the natural way and ethical virtues contained in "music".He analyzed the sound and image of music and pointed out that music is the manifestation of "heaven and virtue".However,the effect of music in governing the country is not only that it can act on people themselves,but also that music contains political principles.Xunzi points out that the connotation of music is the way of being king before law and the way of being king after law.Therefore,it is the choice of the way of nature,the respect of humanity and the inheritance of the way of politics to promote the rule of music.This paper starts from the introduction and sorts out the previous studies on xun zi's thoughts of rites and music.At the same time,centering on the relationship between "music" and "governance",the paper analyzes the content and characteristics of "music",which lays a foundation for the concept of "music" proposed by Xunzi.In addition,the introduction also focuses on clarifying the source of Xunzi's optimistic thoughts on rites,and expounds the guiding significance of "judging music to know politics" and Confucius' optimistic thoughts on rites to Xunzi's thoughts on music.The first chapter and the second chapter constitute the main body of this paper,analyzing the basic theoretical framework and concrete implementation methods of Xunzi's idea of music governance.First of all,from the relationship between music and heaven,Xunzi pointed out that music originated from heaven,and music sound and image are imitations of heaven.Therefore,"music" naturally contains the way of nature,which is the manifestation of "heaven and virtue".Secondly,starting from the relationship between music and human nature,Xunzi pointed out that music not only originated in the human heart,but also can act on the human heart in a unique way to expand the human virtue.Therefore,"music" can help people to better acquire ethical virtues.In particular,Xunzi clearly pointed out that there are "positive sound" and "evil sound" in music on the basis of "elegant and zheng".He believes that "zhengsheng" can cultivate people's temperament,promote the improvement of individual morality,dispel people's excessive desire,and reduce interpersonal conflicts.With the continuous expansion of individual virtue,people's heart is becoming more and more moderate and peaceful.Correspondingly,the social environment is becoming more and more stable,and the national politics is becoming more and more stable and powerful.According to this,Xunzi put forward two standards of promoting the rule of music: one is to stop the sound,the other is to conform to morality.In the same way,he also put forward three ways to implement music governance: first,to match the rites and music,second,to adhere to the complementary music,and third,to promote the development of music.At this point,Xunzi systematically constructed a set of ways ofgoverning the country and the world with rites and music as the core and morality and law as the auxiliary.Through the analysis of the background and content of Xunzi's thought,the author finds that Xunzi's idea of the rule of music implies the pursuit of the unification of politics under the system of rites and music.This appeal not only enriches Xunzi's li optimism,but also helps to better comb and master the Confucian li optimism.In particular,many ideas in Xunzi's theory of music governance inspire China's aspiration of building a community with a Shared future for mankind at different levels.Therefore,the fourth chapter analyzes the academic significance and contemporary value of Xunzi's idea of music governance.
