With the continuous development of English classroom teaching in middle school in China,English Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education emphasizes the cultivation and development of student' English comprehensive application ability.English writing is the main form of language output and also the important embodiment of English comprehensive application ability.Therefore,many English teachers attach more importance to English writing teaching.However,at present,the English writing proficiency of junior high school students in China is generally not high.Therefore,English teachers are trying to find effective writing teaching methods to improve students' writing proficiency.This study attempts to apply Continuation Task,which was proposed by Professor Wang Chuming in2012,to English writing teaching in junior high school.The study attempts to answer the following two questions:Question 1: To what extent does Continuation Task influence students' English writing creativity in junior high school?Question 2: To what extent does Continuation Task influence students' English writing score in junior high school?The experiment lasted four months from September 2019 to December 20l9.The subjects were eighty students from two classes in the eighth grade of Jinzhou No.8 Junior High School in Liaoning Province.During the sixteen-week experiment,one class was experimental class which was taught with Continuation Task,the other was control class which was taught with traditional writing approach.Both two classes were taught by the same teacher and textbook.The instruments included questionnaire,test and interview.Experimental data of questionnaire and test were analyzed by SPSS 19.0 software.Through the analysis and discussion of experimental data,the results showed that English writing creativity and English writing score of students in the experimental class had significantly improved.What's more,several teaching implications are also presented in this study.Finally,the limitations of this study and suggestions for further studies are pointed out in the paper.
