Listening comprehension is the prerequisite for smooth interpreting performance, which is guaranteed by the integrity and accuracy of information input. Both subjective(anxiety, listening ability)and objective factors(noise, accent)cause the difficulties that interpreters come across in their listening process.By attributing unsuccessful information input,or listening comprehension to missing, mishearing, and miscomprehension, the report respectively gives out three coping strategies.Instead of strategies calling for long-term efforts and long time for these efforts to pay off before listening ability can be improved, the report offers makeshift strategies to deal with provisional occasion,by resorting to an inferential approach, which is based on cognitive context. This report aims at,through case study as the main body, offering three inferential strategies for different situations, proving that interpreters still can derive the meaning,in some cases, without completely catching or understanding the whole text. This will help interpreters overcome the anxiety brought by listening failures, making sure their interpreting performance would be as good as it should be.The ultimate goal is to shift the mindset of interpreting learners to one that emphasizes more on key information, and less on a word-oriented manner.
