The purpose of this study was to investigate the predictive effect of Degree of depression on adolescents' willingness to seek help and the mediating effect of stigma.900 12-24-year-old adolescents were selected as subjects.Their depression, causal beliefs, stigma and willingness to seeking help were investigated with “self-rating depression scale”,“Illness Perception Questionnaire-Mental Health”,“Depression Self-Stigma Scale” and “Attitudes toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help”.These questionnaires are common clinical assessment tools or have good reliability and validity, and they are tested by confirmatory factor analysis in this study.Among them, causal belief includes four dimensions: psychosocial, biological, structural and stress.Stigma includes five dimensions: general self-stigma,secrecy,public stigma, treatment stigma and stigmatizing experience. After exploratory factor analysis, the single factor questions were reselected to predict the willing of seeking help.In this study, the observation value of each variable is used to predict the degree of each project, and the average score or standard score of the corresponding topic of the research variable is used as the observation score for descriptive statistics and variance analysis. The results show that the depression of adolescents has a negative predictive effect on their willingness to seek help, the more depression they have, the lower their willingness to seek help;the self stigma of depression has a mediating effect between their depression and their willingness to seek help, the depression of adolescents will reduce their willingness to seek help by increasing their self stigma;the depression of adolescents will reduce their willingness to seek help by increasing their self stigma;the depression of adolescents will reduce their willingness to seek help by increasing their self stigma.Among the causal beliefs of depression, psychosocial, structural and stress factors can increase the self stigma of adolescents with depression. This paper has made some breakthroughs or innovations in research objects, contents and methods, but also shows some shortcomings, which provides direction for future research. The results of the study provide concrete research evidence for exploring the causes and effects of stigma in mental disorders, and help to further construct the theoretical framework. The results of this study can also be applied to the training process of psychotherapists, and help to standardize the psychological education of relevant workers in the process of clinical intervention.
