| The goal of translation is to transmit knowledge and disseminate cultures.Therefore,the reasons why the translator chooses the topic of this report are the following three points:(1)The text is conducive to popularizing the knowledge about the golden section in our daily life.(2)The golden section is a classical and interesting research theme which helps to promote translation practice.(3)The research topic of this report—translation strategies for subject-predicate and verb-object collocations in English popular science text— has practical guiding significance for the translation of the popular science text.Studying the differences between English and Chinese collocations and fully understanding the differences between English and Chinese language structures will help us analyze and understand the source text content better.At the same time,we should consider the reading habits of the target readers.On the basis of fully understanding the original text,the translator was devoted to studying the differences of subject-predicate and verb-object collocations between English and Chinese and trying to find some translation methods.Therefore,for the purpose mentioned above,the translator found lots of examples about subject-predicate and verb-object collocations in the text The Golden Section:Nature’s Greatest Secret in order to analyze the differences between English and Chinese collocations and try to find their translation methods.At the same time,the translator found the difficulties and deficiencies existing in the process of translation and summarized the experience in the translation process.All in all,It will contribute to E-C popular science text in the future.This report is divided into five chapters.Chapter one and chapter two are the introduction to the entire translation project and the translation process.Chapter three analyzes the relationship and differences between English and Chinese collocations.And chapter four summarizes the Chinese translation strategies for English collocations and provides sufficient cases analysis.Chapter five is the conclusion ofthe whole report. |
