Since the development of human society,the usage and artistic expression of metal materials are of great significance to the progress of human civilization and society.In today's industry of metal art,metal ware art has gradually become an important medium for artists to create by expressing feelings and ideas of the creators,and many famous artists have emerged and accumulated rich and precious cultural and artistic resources.Metal ware art is mainly accomplished through mechanical and manual forging techniques.In the process of creation,surface texture of metal ware is one of the most important factors.Various surface textures greatly enrich the decorative effect of metal ware and become one of the main features of metal ware.Even the surface texture becomes a regional feature,skill level and a specific artistic language.In the era of large-scale machine production and continuous update of 3D technology,manual forging technology is faced with opportunities and challenges.Fold is common in our daily life,which is a kind of undulate state formed as a result of direction of force and applied force.It appears more in soft material which is flexible and easy to fold.The emergence of “fold” brings about diversified and complex emotions,and ensues with the formation of texture with greater contingency,which provides more possibilities for the creation of metal ware.In the process of exploring the origin and development of metal forging art,the writer learns from the accumulated discipline knowledge and practical experience,enriching the diversified characteristics of metal ware art and the texture effect of metal ware surface through artistic practices such as the production,control,surface processing and material combination of fold texture.Metal material itself occupies expressive force and artistic purity,and has a more distinct aesthetic tendency;then,it also endows manual labor with humanistic value and cultural connotation.This thesis,focusing on metal ware art as its research object,uses the traditional forging process as its craft technique and fold texture as its art language.Then,this thesis makes analysis and draws conclusion on the art history,art characteristics,and the technological process of traditional forging process,technique characteristics and the humanistic value of metal ware in China,so as to try to break the inherent technological rules of traditional forging process and broaden the skills and characteristics of forging process to make the surface of metal ware present fold texture.In addition,the characteristics of techniques and rules of fold texture on the surface of a metal ware are summarized.What is more,based on the combination of fold texture formed in the metal ware and lacquer craft,analysis is made to understand the morphological characteristics of fold texture in the experimental stage and the theme creation process in order to enrich the expression forms of metal ware.The purpose of this study is to explore more possibility to create surface texture effects of metal ware through manual forging process,as well as the inheritance and development of traditional forging process.In the elaboration of the "fold" series of creative ideas,the "fold" form beauty was analyzed to describe the colorful morphological features and unique artistic effects of the folds.Natural form or abstract form elements are extracted in the process of creation,such as through fold texture pattern.Those elements,taking object as the carrier,are presented by the form of fold texture to express ideas and emotions of the creators.Through continuous experimental summary and practical creation,metal material which is in pursuit of hard inner in essence shows a kind of soft and changeable artistic feeling;In practice,experience and convey the cognition of the relationship between Chinese traditional creation thoughts on uncontrollable and control,and the natural creation in Chinese aesthetics,and the idea of "Heaven and Man".
