Research On Taoist Scripture And Beliefs Of The Bai Ethnic Group Lianchi Hui

The origin of Lianchi Hui in Dali bai-inhabited region is closely related to Buddhism,the scriptures read by the congregation today not only reflects Buddhist beliefs,but also integrates the Taoist faith and the local deity worship peculiar to the Bai ethnic group,while incorporating the influence of Confucianism.So that it can be described as a "four religions in one" folk belief organization.Such organizations are also rare in China and worldwide.Although the "Lianchi Hui congregation are mainly elderly women whom belongs to marginalized groups of the society,through inheriting by generations of elderly women,its influence has spread throughout the families and community life culture,and has penetrated into the spiritual world of the Bai people.It distinctly manifest the Bai people's compatible thinking mode and value pursuit of developing the good and discarding the bad.A systematic and in-depth study on the Lianchi Hui of the Bai ethnic group has important practical significance.The study on the Bai Ethnic Group Lianchi Hui can be carried out in various aspects.This article focuses on the Taoist scriptures and beliefs of the Bai Ethnic Group Lianchi Hui in Dali.This article studies the influence of Taoism on Bai Ethnic Group Lianchi Hui by exploring the Taoist factors in the Scriptures of Bai Ethnic Group Lianchi Hui It is mainly analyzed from the perspective of "Lianchi Hui" scripture system to understand the introduction and development of Taoism in Dali.The influence of Taoism on Bai people was respectively studied from the perspectives of history and folk religious organizations.This article analyzes and revises the Taoist scriptures of the Lianchi Hui,and explores the Taoism beliefs and concepts embodied in the scriptures.Finally,it analyzes the influence of Taoist activities and ritual procedures in the social activities of Lianchi Hui Village.The main observations obtained through the study are: The influence and role of Lianchi Hui in the social life of Bai people have both positive effects and inevitable shortcomings.Therefore,it is required that we treat this intangible cultural heritage with an attitude of absorbing essence and eliminating dregs,and strengthen guidance.We should enhance our understanding of its social functions,and make it play its positive role effectively in moral education,cohesion,cultural entertainment,and psychological consolation.
