On The Culture Of Jiaoshan

The cultural types represented by sites such as Xiaojiashan,Songjiashan,and Zhaishan in Wannian County,Jiangxi Province have been the focus of discussion on local culture in the Shang Dynasty since the discovery in the early 1960 s.But due to the few sites and the relics are not abundant.The cultural outlook is always unclear.The discovery of the Jiaoshan site in the early 1980 s has made people more aware of the characteristics of this cultural type,that is,the main cookers are Yanxingqi and kettles,and various types of pots are popular.It belongs to a large cultural system in the southeast of China.The discovery of the Maotanzhuang site in Wuyuan and the Xiaozhangjia site in Duchang shows that this cultural type developed in parallel with Wucheng Culture at a later stage.Many factors of Wucheng Culture have been added to the original foundation.Its own cultural factors were input into Wucheng Culture.For fifty or sixty years,the name of this type of culture has not bypassed the word "Wannian".The "Archaeological Excavation Report of Jiaoshan Kiln Site 1983 ~ 2007" named it "Jiaoshan Culture".This article makes a brief discussion about the age,connotation,typical sites and origin of Jiaoshan Culture around this report.Chapter 1 introduces the general situation of the Jiaoshan site,which is a typical site of Jiaoshan Culture because of its large-scale scientific excavation and rich remains.In the academic process of summarizing Jiaoshan Cultural research,it was divided into two major stages,which took a long time from the accumulation of materials to the deepening of research.At the same time,it explained the change of cultural naming,and also introduced the writing logic and research significance of the article.Chapter 2 is an in-depth analysis of the Jiaoshan site.The typology of typical utensils is used to clarify the period division of the site.The evolution of the utensils such as Yanxingqi,kettles,and flat-bottom bowls divides the Jiaoshan site into three sections.The uniqueness of the types and combinations of cultural objects in Jiaoshan Culture were further recognized.Chapter 3 inherits the previous chapter and is the skeletal support of the article.The existing materials are combed and integrated to divide the Jiaoshan Culture into three phases and six sections.The first phase is represented by the earliest discovered sites and tombs of Xiaojiashan,Songjiashan and Zhaishan.The second phase is represented by the Jiaoshan site and the third phase is represented by the Maotanzhuang and Xiaozhangjia sites.By separately explaining the three periods,the age and connotation of the Jiaoshan Culture are clarified.It is speculated that the Jiaoshan Culture is an indigenous culture that prevailed in the Ganpo area from the late Xia Dynasty to the late Shang Dynasty,which is different from the Central Plains culture of the same period.Chapter 4 discusses the source and course of Jiaoshan Culture on the basis of the report.By comparing the archaeological culture of the Late Neolithic and the Zhou period between the local area(Northern Jiangxi)and the neighboring area(Northern Fujian),we speculate that the origin of the Jiaoshan Culture is the collision between Maling Culture and Huangguashan Culture in Northern Fujian,one branch stayed in Northern Jiangxi during the late Shang Dynasty and gradually declined,while the other returned to Northern Fujian and developed into the Baizhuduan type.There is a deep or shallow connection between Jiaoshan Culture and the same or adjacent Wucheng Culture,Shihuishan Culture,Longwangling Type,remains of Zhuyuanxia and Huangtulun Type,which is related to the establishment and improvement of the framework of Yinwentao culture in southeast China.And it needs further research and discussion.Due to the limitation of materials and the shift of academic concerns,the study of Jiaoshan Culture has always been limited to Jiangxi Province,and it has been stagnant in the past decade.At the same time,due to the particularity of geographical location,the knowledge of Jiaoshan Culture is an important foundation for revitalizing a large area of bronze culture in the southeast region.Based on the above,this article mainly analyzes the age,connotation and source and course of the Jiaoshan Culture,and is committed to presenting a clearer cultural outlook,trying to contribute a small force to the establishment and improvement of the three-generation archaeological cultural framework in the Ganpo region.
