Research On The Concept Of Species In Gao Qinghai’s Philosophy Of Species

Professor Gao Qinghai is one of the most influential and creative philosophers among contemporary Chinese philosophical community.He had written prolifically and contributed many ideas and thoughts,the most significant of which was the philosophy of species he proposed in his later years.Professor Gao’s line of thought originated from the inquiry of “man”.By constantly reflecting and summarizing,Gao’s philosophy of species eliminates the ontological way of thinking and the logic of material nature;and by absorbing Hegel’s dialectics and Marx’s theory of three-stage society and having the rapid development of market economy in view,Gao’s philosophy of species reveals the ultimate value and mission of future human beings.The philosophy of species is one of Gao’s most creative thoughts.As its crucial concept,the concept of species has illuminated the transcendency and creativity of species philosophy in multiple dimensions like life,individuals,society and universe.This thesis mainly studies the concept of species in light of the distinctive logic and mode of thinking of species philosophy.Further,this thesis clarifies and articulates the concept of species from three aspects: the origin of the concept of species;the meaning of the concept of species;the influence of the concept of species.Chapter 1 analyzes Gao’s solution to the dilemma between the logic of material nature and the logic of humanity under the development of market economy and globalization,which is the logic of species on the basis of realistic social life and sensuous individual lives that marks the arrival of human era.Chapter 2 focuses on the specific meaning of the concept of species.The concept of species infers “becoming species” and “transcending beyond”.The process of becoming species is a dynamic and idealistic one in which realistic individuals constantly transcend beyond themselves in social life,gradually become species and eventually achieve freedom and fulfillment.Chapter 3 discusses the influence of the concept of species.By viewing the ultimate value of “what is human in man” as its starting point and goal,the final chapter elucidates the historical and future influences of the concept of species on human beings,history and society from theoretical and practical perspectives.
