A Report On The Translation Of Education In Thailand (Excerpt) Under The Guidance Of Communicative Translation Strategy

This report selects chapter 3,chapter 4 and chapter 5 of the book Education in Thailand written by professor Annop Pongwat from Chiangmai University as translation and researching object.This translation project is commissioned by Linguist Translation Services(China)and completed by the translator independently.The main content of the book includes politics,government,administrative structure,the current education system,the administration and management of Thailand education,so there are a lot of cultural loaded words in this book,which is one of the main difficulties in the translation process.The source text belongs to informative text;hence,this report takes communicative translation as the guiding principle and analyzes the translation practice from lexical and syntactical levels.The target of the report is to strengthen the translator's translation ability and improve the translation quality,moreover,it would be easier for target language readers to accept and make some contribution to the communication between China and Thailand.The report is made up of five parts.The first part is introduction and analysis of the translation practice;the second part describes the whole process of the translation project;the third part introduces the theoretical basis;the fourth part illustrates examples to prove the applicability of communicative translation strategy in the translation practice;the final partsummarizes findings and limitations of the report.The translation report is to summarize the findings and limitations of the translation practice under the guidance of communicative translation strategy.Through the translation practice and translation report,it further proved that communicative translation strategy has strong applicability in translating informative texts(such as academic works).
