Francois Jullien is a famous contemporary French philosopher and sinologist. He reviewed the past and enriched the present in the thoughts of ancient Greece and ancient China, that is,Greece and the pre-Qin period, referring to the gains and losses of Chen, and exploring the deep reasons for the different tracks of the two cultures. He regards Chinese philosophy as a mirror and other, hoping to find a good medicine to cure the modern diseases brought by western rationalism. Therefore, the “China”or“Chinese philosophy”here is Jullien's“tool”to serve the west.In other words,it is his “imaginary China”,which may be different from our real traditional understanding. However, due to his ultimate aim to extract the essence of western “unthinking”from the achievements of Chinese civilization and inject new implication into western philosophy research,Jullien's research still has important reference value for Chinese and western academic circles to reflect on their own tradition and to explore the way of philosophical research today. This paper is a re-study of Jullien's research. The reason why I chose the three themes of language, body, and other to classify Jullien's literary and artistic thoughts is to refer to Yang Dachun's view in the book "Language · Body · Others—Three Major Themes of Contemporary French Philosophy" The book thinks that the three major themes of language, body, and the other just “conspire”to disintegrate the early western modern philosophy of consciousness and subjective metaphysics oriented by internality, while Francois Jullien's “detour” to China also aims to disintegrate the West. The tradition of reason, therefore I borrow Yang Dachun's ideas here. The content of the paper is presented in four chapters:The first chapter mainly discusses Jullien's reflections on the theory of language, focusing on how Jullien uses the characteristics of Chinese language "ontology" to criticize western "theory of language tools".In his view, the Chinese language is characterized by self-sufficiency and the habit of indirect expression. That's what Jullien borrowed, try to solve the language problem in modern western philosophy. The second chapter discusses Jullien's different understandings of China and the West at the level of "body".This chapter mainly solves the reason why the concept of "nudity" does not appear in Chinese culture and art, while the West has always had a position of "nudity" in the history of art and culture, the reason is that the West attaches great importance to form and value of existence. However,China pays more attention to the process of experience and comprehension. The third chapter mainly discusses how Jullien uses the concept of "other" to criticize the metaphysics of western subjectivity.Jullien put forward the concept of "unintentional" in the sage's thought, which actually means "non-self".The absence of subject makes the central consciousness dim.At the same time,Chinese sage thought also has the characteristic of “non-objective”.These two points together reveal the vague concept of Chinese thought in the relationship between subject and object. The fourth chapter mainly discusses Jullien's research methods. This chapter mainly reveals the construction of Jullien's thoughts by thinking about the "detour" thought path, which is the significance of China and its cultural communication between China and the West. The concluding part is to sort out and comment on the academic contribution and theoretical significance of Jullien's literary thought. After the West entered the postmodernism, metaphysics is slowly dissolving on its own, providing the possibility of an equal dialogue between China and the West.In this environment,Jullien's initiative to seek help from the outside will undoubtedly show us the new prospects of Chinese and Western comparative poetics. But his personal thoughts have never escaped from the framework of modernity.
