Intercultural communicative competence refers to the communicative competence of two parties from different cultural backgrounds when communicating in the same situation.China's "Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards"(2017 edition)puts intercultural communicative competence under the dimension of cultural awareness of the five major curriculum goals.It is suggested that English teaching should help students improve their sensitivity and discrimination to Chinese and foreign cultural similarities and differences,and then improve their intercultural communicative competence.With the strengthening of connections between countries,the number of intercultural communication scenarios facing students in primary school has gradually increased.Therefore,this study will explore the cultivation of students' intercultural communicative competence in primary school English teaching from the perspective of teaching reality.First of all,the problems of this study originated from the author's observation of English learning in primary school.Raising research questions on the basis of English teaching practice,conducting literature review on the research of intercultural communication competence,the relationship between language learning and culture,and English learning.Getting to know the progress of existing research,reflecting on the implications and deficiencies of existing research.Thinking about the starting point and innovation of this research.Clarifying the relationship between language learning and culture,the relationship between intercultural communicative competence cultivation and English teaching.Secondly,author observes the students' intercultural communicative competence and discusses the characteristics of students' intercultural communicative competence.This study observes the intercultural communicative competence of primary school discuss the characteristics of students' intercultural communicative competence in terms of cognition,emotion,and behavior.It is found that the cognitive characteristics of intercultural communication in primary school students are affected by language knowledge,social and cultural knowledge,general knowledge and related thinking ability;students face the emotional conflict between mother tongue culture and English culture in English teaching;students' communicative behavior is affected by different communication situations.Finally,exploring the way in which primary school English teaching cultivates students' intercultural communicative competence,and improve their intercultural communicative competence.Through interviews with teachers and analysis of textbooks,this research explores how to cultivate students' intercultural communicative competence in English teaching.Ways for cultivating students' intercultural communicative competence in primary school include three aspects: cognitive expansion,emotional experience and behavioral guidance.The author hopes that this research can provide new ideas and methods for the cultivation of intercultural communicative competence.
