Lesson Study,as a specific method for teaching and research in educational practice, has aroused increasing interests from researchers and practitioners. It is to enhance teaching ability and to promote teacher's professional development.An(2018)proposed that integrating Lesson Study into the pre-service teacher education system is a necessary measure for teacher education curriculum and teaching innovation. That is why the author,a novice teacher in English education, explored the approach of Lesson Study to apply scaffolding instruction to teaching practice among students in Grade Seven in a junior high school with the help of the learning group.Three rounds of teaching practice were conducted and modified, followed by group discussion and students' feedback as well as the author's reflection after each round. The study intends to answer the following questions: 1)What improvement has been made in the teacher's scaffolding instruction with the aid of the Lesson Study? 2)What improvement has been made in terms of the teacher's reflection level during the Lesson Study? 3)What changes have taken place among students with the improvement of scaffolding instruction? To make it,qualitative methods were used to collect data from classroom observation, interview and teaching reflection. The study finds that when scaffolding instruction is effectively improved, the student's thinking quality is also fully developed.Lesson Study plays an important role in improving scaffolding instruction and it can help teachers bridge the gap between practice and theory. It is hoped that this study will provide a reflective and practical experience for novice teachers to further their professional development.
