This study selects relative clauses as the target grammar item to explore the effect of error code feedback on the writing accuracy of relative clauses for senior two students.Specific research questions include:(1)Can error code feedback improve students' error identifying and using proficiency of the relative clauses more effectively than direct feedback?(2)Does error code feedback affect the writing accuracy of the relative clauses for students with different English language proficiency?(3)Can error code feedback improve students' overall English writing ability?In this study,SPSS13.0 is adopted for the corresponding statistical analysis on the collected experimental data,and the results show that:(1)compared with the direct feedback which is frequently used by teachers,the error code feedback plays a more important role in promoting the error recognition and application ability of relative clauses;(2)error code feedback has a marked effect on the writing accuracy of relative clauses for both high and low level English learners.But in comparison,the high score group makes greater and considerable progress in the correct use of the three error types;(3)as writing training progresses,the writing accuracy of relative clauses in code group is conspicuously improved,and it is moderately correlated with the total score of students' composition.This shows that error code feedback can affect students' overall writing ability to a certain extent.
