In the long history of the magnificent Anti-Japanese War,the entire Chinese nation,united in solidarity,and jointly resisted foreign aggression with endless efforts and great sacrifices in the front-line battlefield and battlefield behind enemy lines.Under the historical background of the whole National War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression,the westward movement of the Si Ku Quan Shu,with a stubborn and unyielding attitude,expressed the Chinese people’s long cherish to national culture and became an important part of cultural fight against the Japanese imperialists.The mission of soldiers is to protect the country and the territory.Every word is equivalent to an inch of land to literati,and they guard every inch of territory in the cultural field.The film script "The westward Migration of the Si Ku Quan Shu" takes the westward movement of the Si Ku Quan Shu during the war as creation materials.It tells the legendary stories of a group of scholars who have traveled nearly 5,000 kilometers through six provinces in nine years and conquered difficulties and dangers to guard 228 boxes of 36318 volumes of these precious ancient classics,including the Si ku Quan shu.The main characters in the script have their unique characteristics,including Chi Xun,who is a resolute but also confused person;Du Ruo,who is less determined but ultimately able to stand up for what was right;Xia Yuqing,who is a philological,unselfish bibliophile;Xia Chen,who do not value cultural relics or ancient books and only care for his family;Mao Chunshan,who is recklessly impulsive but loyal;Liu Yi,who is greedy for life and money,fear of death.They are typical representatives on the journey to the west.The plight is not only the menace of the enemy,but also the numerals quarrel and contradictions among the partners.They once compromised and gave up,but eventually they united resolutely and to the end,carrying the expectations from the nation and the people to make all efforts to preserve traditional culture.The script chooses Chen Xunci and other librarians of Zhejiang Library as its historical prototypes on the basis of a large number of historical materials,relates the theatrical points around the "the Si Ku Quan Shu",build a classic linear three-screen structure,and sets up a group of positive or reactionary figures centering on Xia Chen,and reproduce the history of the scholar’s guardianship to the national culture in the war years.The writer hopes to arouse people’s attention and inheritance to Chinese traditional culture by this script,to regain the spirit of independence and free thought.
