Lynne Ramsay has directed only four short and four feature films so far in her career,although limited in number,they have won numerous awards at Cannes,Locarno and other international film festivals,who can be said to be a director with few but high quality works.Lynne Ramsay is one of the already well-known and representative female directors in the UK in the new era.The fusion of the film environment of the British new wave and the growing background of the Scottish nation has formed its unique film context.At the same time,Lynne's unique writing style has also injected new blood into British and even world films.As a cameraman,Lynne has a refined and refined look in the design and shaping of the image,and the narration behind the camera has derived a more profound ideological connotation with the use of rich techniques.This article will make a detailed analysis and in-depth interpretation through the eight major films of Lynne Ramsay,which are " Small Deaths","Kill the time","Gasman","Ratcatcher","Morvern Callar","Swimmer","We need talk about Kevin" and "You were never really here".This paper attempts to conduct a comprehensive research on Lynne Ramsay's directing from four aspects: creative background,narrative,theme and audio-visual technique.The full text is divided into five chapters.Firstly,this paper discusses the creative influence of Lynne Ramsay in the cross-era social background,and then discusses how the director manages to follow the trend and stick to her own creative intention in the social,political and film industry changes,so as to explore what perspective Lynne Ramsay's growing background as an independent gave her and what breakthrough attempts she made.Unlike most studies that focus on Lynne Ramsay's audiovisual achievements,this paper focuses more on the director's narrative skills that are easily overlooked.In the third chapter,the narrative arrangement of Lynne Ramsay's film is analyzed in detail from four aspects:narrative space,symbolic image,character relationship and narrative technique.Despite Lynne Ramsay's long transition from indie to crime,the core of her thinking throughout her films has never changed.The fourth chapter discusses her concern and empathy for childrenand female groups as a female director,as well as her long-term prominence and care for human individuals,including the focus on marginal groups and the exploration of death topics,which are integrated into the creation intention of Lynne Ramsay.Finally,this paper analyzes Lynne Ramsay's excellent style of audiovisual expression,her use of tabbed close-up and slow motion,and her unique visual effect formed by mixing romantic poetry with soft violence.Different from the academic image expression,Lynne Ramsay always goes off the edge in sound effect,and is willing to try all kinds of novel auditory experiments,so as to burst into wonderful chemical reactions with images.Through the detailed discussion of the above four chapters,this paper makes a comprehensive research and analysis on the director Lynne Ramsay.
