Defeasible reasoning is non-monotonic: new additional information can defeat previously drawn conclusions(Politzer,2007).Most of the related researches adopt MP form of conditional reasoning.Accordingly, the defeasibility in such reasoning can be seen as a defeat the content connection of premise(premise form)in conditional reasoning(hu zhujing,2000).Previous studies have found that if the premise and the additional information have opposite emotional valence, especially when the extra information is negative and the premise is positive, the acceptance of the previously conclusion will be reduced(Lupita,Bruno & Markus,2016).However,Lupita et al(2016)research has two deficiencies.Firstly,it didn’t control the emotional arousal, another important dimension in emotional variables,Secondly, all of the experimental materials are premise with the first person "I".Emotionality has a great influence on the information processing process of reasoning, and the propositional person also affects this process. But before that,we must first consider the impact of emotional arousal. Therefore, experiment 1 examines the effect of different emotional valences and additional information on emotional awakening on arguable reasoning. After that, experiment 2 examines people ’s response to different persons(“I” and “he” under the control of emotional awakening)In the material conditions, the emotional valence of content affects the time course and cognitive load of defeasible reasoning. The results suggest that:The result of experiment 1 found that as long as the acceptance rate of addition information is reduced, the response time is prolonged;the level of emotional arouse of addition information will only affect the defeasible power of negative addition information.Stronger;when additional information with the same emotional valence as the premise is presented, the appearance of negative additional information increases the acceptance rate. The results of Experiment 2 found that the premise emotional valence affects the early and late stages of defeasible reasoning, and the emotional valence of additional information mainly affects the late stage of defeasible reasoning. When the premise person is called "me",the acceptance rate under the negative premise is lower than the positive premise. When the premise person is called "he",there is no significant difference in the acceptance rate between the positive premise and the negative premise; The premise person pronoun mainly affects the cognitive load of reasoning. When the premise person changes from "me" to "he",the number of fixations decreases and the cognitive load decreases. To sum up,emotionality has a great influence on defeasible reasoning,of which emotional arouse mainly affects the defeasible power of negative additional information, and emotional valence will affect both the early and late stages of defeasible reasoning,And the transformation of the premise person will affect the results and cognitive load of emotionally defeasible reasoning. |
