The Performing Characteristics Of Nuo Dance In Shanggan Village,Nanfeng County,Jiangxi Province

It is well known that the Nuo dance in Nanfeng has been spreading in China for thousands of years.This old ritual dance contains a long history of China and colorful folk civilization.Shanggan Village has the longest history among all Nuo Villages in Nanfeng.Shanggan Nuo Dance is primitive but ceremonious,showing the "exorcising ghosts and fighting epidemics" meaning.When performing,the hand shape retains the representative of traditional Nuo dance: “incense knack”.The paper starts from the analysis of the current situation and development of Shanggan Nuo Dance,then combs out the evolution of the dance,summarizes the performance characteristics of eight programs and explores the unique artistic charm of Shanggan Nuo dance through a large number of practical experiences and collection of folk arts.The paper analyzes Shanggan Nuo Dance through the induction and deduction of historical materials,as well as the fieldwork method which often used in the practical investigation of folklore.At the same time,studies the unique performance features of Shanggan Nuo Dance through related concepts of choreoecology and semiotics.The whole paper is divided into 5 chapters.The "Introduction" part mainly expounds the background of the topic,the research status of Nuo dance,the research methods and significance."Chapter 1" is an overview of Shanggan Nuo Dance and observation from the historical point of view."Chapter 2" mainly introduces the ritual process in detail by wathcing traditional ceremony and the live performance of Shanggan Nuo Dance."Chapter 3" describes the classification of "Yan Nuo" mask,costumes,instruments and music of Shanggan Nuo Dance."Chapter 4" explores the performance characteristics of Shanggan Nuo dance by analyzing the key elements,characters and programs,and then analyzes the meaning behind it."Chapter 5" mainly analyzes the artistic and cultural value of Shanggan Nuo Dance.The "Epilogue" part is the conclusion and prospect of the 5 chapters.The Shanggan Nuo Dance contains full cultural connotation.The excavation and discussion of its performance characteristics will do great contribute to the inheritance of folk dance form.On the one hand,it provides an important reference for the study of folk dance;on the other hand,we should be aware of the extinction risk of this certain form of performance.Detailed research and records will help to provide more information and suggestions for the protection of this intangible cultural heritage.Personally,I also hope to take this opportunity to do my best on the road of cultural research.
