Around the first century AD,Gandhara art was introduced to China with Buddhism. After going through the three stages of germination, development and integration,it merged with and influenced Chinese traditional culture. One of the core of Gandhara art is the stories of Buddha life.Under this cultural blend,a series of corresponding changes have been made in order to fit China's traditional ideological culture and public aesthetics. This change made by Gandhara art not only makes Chinese cave art more colorful, but also has great significance for the development of Chinese Buddhist art.In this article,we take the example of "The Great Departure" as an example, and list a large number of "The Great Departure" images.Based on the Chinese translation of Buddhist scriptures,we discuss the inheritance and evolution of the image form of "The Great Departure" as clues, and analyze the art of Gandhara to China. The influence of Buddhist art. This article attempts to explain the influence of Gandhara art on Chinese Buddhism through the following aspects.First, the two different periods experienced by Gandhara art during its development-the Ashoka period and the Kushan Empire. This article analyzes the reasons for the "no Buddha's statue" expression technique during the Ashoka period and the five elements for the vigorous development of the Gandhara art during the Kushan Empire.Second,"The Great Departure" is one of the important contents of Buddhism. In ancient India,Gandhara and Chinese Buddhist art, there are a large number of works depicting this content. In ancient northwestern India,"The Great Departure" The content of "City" is depicted as a picture of Yasha holding horseshoes across the gate, with a compact layout and detailed characterization. After its introduction into China, with thedeepening of the spread of the East and the dynasty,a series of changes have taken place in the main elements of the "The Great Departure".Yasha turned into flying, the layout was not as crowded and rich as the original, and the character portrayal was more elegant and beautiful.Third, the biographical expression of northwestern India is relatively rare in Chinese Buddhist art. There are many configurations of "The plot of the tire" and "The Great Departure",especially in the Dunhuang Cave, which are drawn in the form of sketches, and the Chinese Taoist character-Dongfang Shuo(161 BC-93 BC)also appears in the image. After conducting an argument and analysis on the above issues, the author explores the reasons for the difference in the transmission of the "The Great Departure" image: First, the difference between Chinese culture and Indian culture;Second, the Gandhara art has received Confucianism in China And the influence of Chinese Taoist culture;three, the story of Buddhism is in accordance with the view of the emperor in Chinese feudal society.Chapter 4 presents the image inheritance points of "The Great Departure" in China in the form of charts.Based on the Chinese translation of Buddhism,a large number of Buddhist art images are enumerated, using schist reliefs in northwestern India and murals from the Northern Wei Dynasty to the early Tang Dynasty in the Chinese grotto as the medium to demonstrate the development of Gandhara art in China and the Chinese Confucianism.Combining traditional ideas such as Taoism and Taoism, and transforming Buddhism teachings into Chinese Buddhist images in order to reveal the influence of Gandhara art on Chinese Buddhist art.
