A Study On Tang And Song Dynasties Poems Quoted By Sanyan

Sanyan is a set of representative works of short vernacular fictions in Ming Dynasty,compiled by Feng Menglong according to the script for story-telling in Song and Yuan Dynasties' folk literatures.Although the Sanyan is a novel,it introduces a large number of Tang and Song poems,among which there are two main reasons.On the one hand,the introduction of Tang people's novels to poetry and the introduction of Song and Yuan scripts to Ci form make it possible for Sanyan to introduce Tang and Song poems and gradually it became stylized.On the other hand,the literati stylization tendency in the writing of the script also prompted the Tang and Song poems to enter the Sanyan.According to statistics,there are 58 Tang poems,1 Tang Ci poem,38 Song Ci poems and 49 Song Ci poems,in total amount of 146.Compare the related contents of Sanyan and Qingpingshantanghuaben,we can discover that although there are part of Tang and Song poems that come from the inheritance of Song and Yuan story-telling scripts,it more adds the number of Tang and Song poems basing on the introduction of previous generation.In addition,Sanyan mentioned the authors of Tang and Song poems in the course of quoting.Some of them misjudged the authors.The misjudgement reasons are relevant to the similarity of authors' names and the needs of plot construction.The poems and Ci of Tang and Song Dynasties quoted in Sanyan represent the author's quotations hobbies.First,the quoted poems are closely related to the narrative of the novel;Secondly,from the point of view of quotations hobbies and reasons,Sanyan mostly quoted poems of Li Bai and Su Shi,which were related to literati's romance and the novel's pursuit of "strange interest".The poems of Bai Juyi and Liu Yong are often cited to emphasize the "vulgar" aspect of their poems.The narrative function of Tang and Song poems in Sanyan is mainly embodied in four aspects.Firstly,the "poems as evidence" type of poetry creates a narrative context that refers to the true facts,and increases the sense of truth in the narration.Secondly,the poems of Tang and Song Dynasties have a function of pre-narration,and the stories "born out by a poetry" occurred very typically in Sanyan.Thirdly,the Tang and Song poems play a role of structural link in the Sanyan,with the function of transforming narrative scenes and so on.Fourthly,it can set suspense,so that the stories have ups and downs.The Tang and Song poems in Sanyan have three values.Firstly,it can expand the literature and serve as a reference for the identification of false documents,and has a certain value of literature;Secondly,as a respective of an elegant literature involved in novels,Tang and Song poems promote the interaction of refined literature and folk literature,which has an aesthetic value.Thirdly,some of the poems of Tang and Song Dynasties are works of exhortation,which have a certain social value.
