A Study On The Localization Of Intercultural Sensitivity Theory

In the era of increasingly globalized communication,communication and dyadic interaction between different cultures are becoming more frequent.Intercultural communication studies and explain the social relationships and social interactions between different cultures,providing basic theoretical and practical strategies for the international political,economic,and cultural communication.The study of intercultural communication activities is the focus of intercultural communication disciplines.Intercultural sensitivity is a main aspect of intercultural communication skills,an important condition for effective intercultural communication,and a positive motivation to understand and accept cultural differences.As an important aspect of intercultural communicative competence and an important concept in intercultural communication,intercultural sensitive issues have become more and more hot topics for scholars naturally.But now,intercultural sensitivity theoretical models and measurement tools are mostly based on Western cultures.When applied in China’s intercultural sensitivity research,there will be many unsuitable situations.Local reconstruction of sensitive theoretical models is necessary.This article takes intercultural sensitivity theory as the research object,and uses the current situation of intercultural sensitivity theory and related localization theories in the fields of intercultural communication at home and abroad as the research background.This paper reviews the inadaptation problems existing in the empirical and theoretical studies of intercultural sensitivity in China,and explores the possibility of intercultural sensitivity localization with the help of Chinese culture.Starting from intercultural sensitive theoretical models and measurement tools,it strives to build the intercultural sensitive theory suitable for Chinese culture.This paper mainly includes the following three aspects: Firstly,trace the source,sort out the theoretical basis of intercultural sensitive localization,and explain what localization is,why localization of intercultural communication and localization theory that intercultural communication can learn from.Then,the definition and theoretical model of intercultural sensitivity and the measurement tools of intercultural sensitivity are summarized and introduced,these constitute the theoretical basis for the localization of interculturalsensitivity theory.Secondly,the necessity and possibility of localization of intercultural sensitivity theory model is demonstrated.Sexuality,looking for ideas that are compatible with intercultural sensitive theories from Chinese cultural values,revealing that the concept of interaction under the influence of "neutralization" and "loyalty" in Chinese culture has influenced contemporary times.Based on the six elements of Chen Guoming’s intercultural sensitivity and the DMIS model,try to localize the interpretation and reconstruction of the intercultural sensitivity theoretical model.Third,when the cultural sensitivity scale is applied in China,it has low credibility and some aspects issues such as insignificant impacts need to be localized and adapted on the basis of theoretical models to domestically used ISS scales that measure intercultural sensitivity,and try to build a preliminary Chinese intercultural sensitivity scale.The research focus of this article is to explore how to reconstruct the localization of the intercultural sensitivity theory model and adjust the localization of the intercultural sensitivity scale in order to integrate the theory of intercultural sensitivity reasonably.By collecting,collating and summarizing the current status of domestic scholars’ use of intercultural sensitivity theories and exploring Chinese cultural genes,using quantitative and qualitative analysis methods,conceptually re-explain the intercultural sensitivity theory models proposed by Western scholars,and analyze what influence the Chinese intercultural sensitivity,the factors of cultural sensitivity and the development process of intercultural sensitivity.Analyze the applicability of foreign intercultural sensitivity research work from the perspective of research tools.Based on the thinking characteristics of Chinese people,construct an intercultural sensitivity scale suitable for Chinese people and fully explore the possibility and practical strategies of localization of intercultural sensitive theories.
