Study On Acceptance Of The Four Greatest Poets In The Revival Period Of Southern Song Dynasty In The Poetry Talks Of The Republic Of China

The name ‘The four greatest poets in the Revival Period of Southern Song Dynasty' are Lu You,Yang Wanli,Fan Chengda and You Mao.As the great poets of the Southern Song Dynasty,the four poets are of great significance to the development of the Song poetry.The Republic of China is in the period of collision of Chinese and foreign cultures and the period of alternation of new and old poetics.The poetics expounded by scholars often embody the characteristics of the new era.The paper is taking reception aesthetics as the research perspective.By exploring the acceptance of the four poets in this period,we hope we can provide literature for the study of Song Poetry in the period of the Republic of China and reference for the study of Contemporary Song poetry.The paper discusses the evolution of the four poets from Song Dynasty to the Republic of China and combs the comparison of Lu You,Yang Wanli and Fan Chengda from the Song Dynasty to the Republic of China.The Poetry Talks of the Republic of China analyzes the four poets' status,poetic characteristic,poetic origin and imitations on them.Lu You was discussed most in the Poetry Talks of the Republic of China.The scholars in the Republic of China affirmed his position as the first in the Southern Song Dynasty.His impassioned poems were generally recognized by the revolutionary group Nanshe at that time.The evaluation about Yang Wanli in the Poetry Talks of the Republic of China had changed greatly comparing with that in the Qing Dynasty,the scholars of the Republic of China affirmed his achievement and appraised his ‘Chengzhai' style poems.The scholars in the Republic of China analyzed the artistic characteristics of three poets' poems and thought highly of their achievements.There were many people learning from three poets in the Republic of China,the poets imitating Yang Wanli even more than Lu You,it was a really remarkable phenomenon.As for the origin of four poets,The scholars in the Republic ofChina thought that they were influenced by many poets of the past dynasties,especially the poets of Tang Dynasty.And they appraised Su Shi and Huang Tingjian whose poems embody Song poems mostly.The scholars' views on Tang and Song poetry were no longer extreme,showing an open and inclusive attitude.By summarizing the acceptance of the four poets in the period of the Republic of China,we can draw a conclusion that the Poetry Talks of the Republic of China are unique comparing with the previous dynasties.Due to the change of the background of the times,the Poetry Talks of the Republic of China described the imitation of foreign poets about four poets.In addition,there were many references to novels and operas in Poetry Talks,which showed that the influence of popular literature in the Republic of China was increasing day by day.
