Research On Hebei Monthly(1933-1937)

"Hebei Monthly" is a comprehensive political journal issued by Hebei Monthly Government of Hebei Provincial Government during the period of the Nanjing National Government.Founded by Yu Xuezhong,Chairman of the Hebei Provincial Government,and Qu Xuanying serves as Chief Editor.Founded in Tianjin in January 1933,it is one of the bulletins of Hebei Province with a background of the Kuomintang.In June 1935,affected by the "Hebei Incident" launched by Japan,Hebei Monthly Magazine followed the provincial government’s relocation from Tianjin to Baoding,and continued to edit and publish publications after the relocation.It was not suspended halfway through,and publication stopped in May 1937,with 53 issues in total.Based on the journal materials of “Hebei monthly”,this paper analyzes the establishment,content and development of the journal.The first part introduces the historical background of social unrest at home and abroad before and after the establishment of “Hebei monthly”.The second part summarizes the editor,author,audience,layout and advertisement of “Hebei monthly”.It can be seen that as a government publication,most of its editors,authors and audience are officials and scholars,and the advertisements published are both commercial and cultural The third part selects the local autonomy,social relief and anti smoking and drug control decrees published in “Hebei monthly” as the research object,and analyzes the efforts and shortcomings of Hebei provincial government under the ruling of the Kuomintang in the construction of local people’s livelihood;the fourth part obtains Hebei month by combing the interaction of Local Chronicles,local color stories and inscriptions on local tablets Journal promotes the development of regional culture in Hebei Province and has important historical value.The last part summarizes the full text and discusses the social influence and historical role of “Hebei monthly”.Based on this framework,relying on the original text and combining with the historical environment,this paper makes a detailed discussion on the contents of the journal,and reveals the positive role of “Hebei monthly” in the local construction during the period of the national government.Through the “Hebei monthly”,we can see the efforts and achievements made by the Kuomintang in the administration of Hebei,but there is still a huge gap between the envisaged decrees and the final results,so people’s lives are more difficult.At the same time,the collation of “Hebei monthly” can provide a reference for the study of news history and local history in Hebei Province during the period of the Republic of China.
