Attentional boost effect refers to in the divided attention condition, subjects were asked to finish encoding task and detection task at the same time, and the subsequent tests showed that memory stimulus presented simultaneously with the targets was better than memory stimulus that presented simultaneously with the distractor rejection. Some studies showed that attentional boost effect can be applied to different types of memory tasks: It can not only be found in image memory, but also in word memory;it can also be found in explicit memory and implicit memory. But the previous studies about attentional boost effect are all based on the first language condition,it is not clear that if we use the second language as background stimuli, would its memory stimuli familiarity difference regulate attentional boost effect? At present, there aren't any studies referring to target detection would boost the second language word memory or not.In this study,we used the high frequency first language(high familiarity)and the high frequency second language(low familiarity)as variable force of the familiarity to remove the effect of word frequency in experiment 1,and then to investigate attentional boost effect in explicit memory. The result showed that attentional boost effect was found in both the first and the second language explicit memory, and their effect force was the same.It proved that background stimuli familiarity difference would not regulate attentional boost effect. In order to explore the application range of attentional boost effect,we used perceptional implicit test and conceptional implicit test in experiment 2 to replace the recognition test in experiment 1.The result showed that attentional boost effect could not found in the first language or the second language. It proved that attentional boost effect does not exist in the second language word implicit memory.Implicit memory is different from explicit memory,it may be limited by some other factors(such as target proportion novelty factor and so on),so it is not so stable as explicit memory. In order to explore the application in the second language teaching of attentional boost effect,we added the memory stimulus up to two languages on the base of experiment 1.The result showed that attentional boost effect could be found in the mixture of the first language and the second language wordmemory. It proved that adding up perception load in the early select stage does not influence attentional boost effect. To sum up the result of the three experiments,it proved that attentional boost effect can only exist in explicit memory of the second language, and at some degree,it is helpful to the learning of the second language target words which will lead to a consideration of its application in the second language teaching.
